About SES Library Media Center
The library strives to ensure that all students have equitable access to books, reading, information, and technology. The library opens at 8:00 a.m. Monday through Friday; classes span from 8:20-2:15. At 2:15 we have open library where members of the Student Technology Leadership Program and other student groups often work on projects. Five 3rd grade library leaders assist during morning and afternoon open library times. These leaders assist with shelving, checking out books, managing iPads, and prepping materials for classes. The library has three mobile labs consisting of one Chromebook cart, one iPad mini cart, and one iPad cart. The library and classrooms are fortunate to have access to this technology. In addition, we will be adding hundreds of new books to the library!
About the Librarian
My name is Sam Northern, and I am originally from Russellville, Kentucky. I graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2008 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management. I have a Master of Arts in Teaching from Morehead State University and a Master of Science in Library Media Education from WKU. Before the library, I was a middle school language arts teacher at Lewisburg School in Logan County. In 2015 I married my best friend, Kara, who is also a teacher. I believe that students’ exploration of authentic topics via advanced technologies nurtures a global perspective and community mindedness. Let's draw on our experiences to encourage students to celebrate the splendid dimensions of our world. Together, we can improve instruction by engaging students in learning through discovery. Please follow me on Twitter @Sam_Northern and be sure to check out my blog: Mister Librarian.
